Pitch Your Big Idea

Youth entrepreneurs (ages 18-25) from around the globe have an opportunity to pitch their business idea to entrepreneur and investor Ryan Holmes. Each contestant will have to pitch Ryan through social media on September 5th, 2017. Youth Entrepreneurs will have 200 characters and 60 seconds to live pitch their big idea for a chance to compete for investment, mentorship, and more.

I have a business idea, can I pitch on LOI:Live Pitch? 

YES! If you have a business idea or a full fledged business that you are running you can live pitch Ryan Holmes on LOI: Live Pitch during the Facebook LIVE which will happen on September 5th at 9:00am (PST) on Ryan Holmes' Facebook Page. LINK HERE

How old do I have to be to pitch and participate in the show? 

You have to be between the ages of 18-25 years old to participate in the show. Born between 1992 - 1999.

How does it all work? 

All pitches will happen live on September 5th starting at 9:00am (PST) on Ryan Holmes' Facebook Page through a Facebook Live. LINK HERE. All contestants wanting to pitch will have to compose a 200 character written pitch on the comments section of the Facebook Live. Those selected will advance to pitch live on screen for a 60 second pitch.

What kind of business do I have to have to pitch? 

You can pitch with any sort of wicked business or business idea whether it is technology, wearables, entertainment, retail, food, social impact, etc. 

Why only young entrepreneurs? 

The League of Innovators (LOI) was created to level the playing field for youth entrepreneurs and provide programming that will enable youth to overcome unique challenges that are specific to this demographic, such as credibility, experience, access to funds, and networks. RH is passionate about young entrepreneurs, having started his first business, a paintball company in his teens.

What do I get if my pitch is selected as the winner? 

Winner takes all, the prize includes:

  • $10,000 investment into your business 
  • Trip to Vancouver to meet Ryan for a mentorship session and a League of Innovators event
  • Admission into League of Innovators Launch program
  • One year Hootsuite-pro subscription

Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions (the “Terms”) govern the LOI: Live Pitch contest (the “Contest”) offered by the League of Innovators (“LOI”). By participating, contestants acknowledge and agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Eligibility, Entry and Process.
a. Entry is open to entrepreneurs aged 18-25 for the duration of the live broadcast of LOI: Live Pitch on September 5, September 8 and September 11, 2017, or such other times as LOI may determine (the “Contest Period”).
b. To enter the Contest, contestants must pitch their business idea in the comments section of the Facebook Show page using 200 characters or less to entrepreneur and investor, Ryan Holmes. Entries will then be reviewed, subject to the volume of contestants; LOI cannot guarantee that all entries will be reviewed. LOI will then select, in its sole discretion, the best pitches, following which Ryan will name the selected pitches in the Facebook Show. LOI will then direct message applicable contestants and invite them to appear live in the Facebook Show to make their pitch for a maximum of 60 seconds. Following the Contest Period, LOI will select, in its sole discretion, three finalists (each, a “Finalist”). Each Finalist will be informed of his or her selection via direct message.
c. A contestant may only enter the Contest if the Contest does not breach any law or regulation of the jurisdiction in which they are resident. This Contest is void where prohibited by law. Contestants are solely responsible for determining whether the Contest breaches any law or regulation of the jurisdiction in which they are resident.
d. Pitches must comply with Facebook’s Community Standards posted at https://www.facebook.com/communitystandards, and must not, in the sole and unfettered opinion of LOI, contain obscene, provocative, defamatory, sexually explicit or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate content, content containing unsolicited commercial messages (i.e., spam), or content that infringes on the intellectual property rights of a person.
e. The Contest is not open to employees, contractors, ambassadors and other representatives of LOI, Hootsuite or their affiliated companies or their immediate families, or to anyone professionally connected with the Contest. LOI reserves the right to review the eligibility of the potential winners before the Prize is awarded. LOI accepts no responsibility for late entries or entries not received for any reason.

2. Prize.
a. The prize consists of one round trip flight to Vancouver up to a maximum value of CAD$3,000 for travel to be completed no later than March 1, 2018, 2 nights accommodation, meals up to CAD$200 per diem per day, CAD$10,000 of investment in your business (subject to mutually agreeable investment terms and in a form to be agreed between the parties), admission to the LOI program, and one year of Hootsuite-pro subscription (the “Prize”).
b. All incidental expenses associated with the collection, redemption, and usage of the Prize are the responsibility of the winner. The Prize must be taken as offered and is neither transferable nor redeemable for cash. No Prize substitutions are permitted.
c. Travel insurance is at the winner’s expense and is highly recommended. It is the sole responsibility and liability of the Prize winner to obtain all necessary travel documentation including valid passports and visas, as applicable and to comply with any customs and immigration requirements.
d. The winner of the Prize is solely responsible for any and all federal, state, provincial and local taxes, if any, that apply to the Prize. The Prize is offered “as is” with no written, express, or implied warranty.

3. Winner Selection. The Contest winner will be selected from the pool of Finalists by Ryan Holmes and/or other co-hosts, in their sole discretion and may involve an element of community engagement in the form of voting. All decisions are final and binding in all respects. The winner will be notified via direct message, telephone and/or email. If, however, a winner is found not to be eligible or not in compliance with these Terms, if a Prize notification is returned as undeliverable, or if a Prize is rejected, such winner will be disqualified and the Prize will be forfeited and may be awarded to an alternate winner. Instructions on claiming the Prize will be provided once the winner’s eligibility and compliance with these terms have been verified. Undeliverable Prizes will not be awarded.

4. Proof of Age. Winners may be asked to provide LOI with proof of date of birth before receiving a Prize.

5. Administration of the Contest.
a. If for any reason the Contest is not run as planned, LOI reserves the right at its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest.
b. LOI disclaims all responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, problem or technical malfunctions, technical problems or traffic congestion on the internet, through mobile apps or at any website, or any combination thereof, which may limit contestants’ ability to participate in the Contest.
c. Where the Contest involves access or use of a third party website (“Third Party Website”), contestants agree that: (a) LOI has no control over the Third Party Website whatsoever; (b) contestants are solely and fully responsible for use of the Third Party Website; (c) LOI disclaims any and all responsibility or liability for any harm resulting from contestants’ use of any Third Party Website; and (d) this promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, any Third Party Website, including Facebook. LOI and not Facebook is collecting content and information relating to the Contest. For greater certainty, contestants use of Facebook is governed by and subject to Facebook’s terms of service (https://www.facebook.com/legal/terms) and data policy (https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/).
d. LOI reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify, and seek any applicable legal remedies and damages from, any contestant breaching these Terms or tampering with the entry process or the Contest in any way.

6. Release of Liability.
a. The winner assumes all risk of travel related to the Prize.
b, By entering the Contest, each contestant (including the winner) hereby releases and saves LOI, its affiliates and their respective directors, officers, employees, suppliers, sponsors, advisors and agents harmless from any and all losses, damages, rights, claims and actions of any kind in connection with the Contest; or resulting from acceptance, possession, or use of the Prize, including without limitation, personal injury, death, and property damage, and claims based on publicity rights, defamation, or invasion of privacy.

7. Use of Information. By participating in this contest, you agree:
a. that the content you have provided in connection with this contest is accurate, you have the right to provide that content for use by LOI, and that content does not infringe the rights of any third party.
b. to allow LOI and related entities to share all content you have provided in connection with the Contest.

8. Governing Law. These Terms and the Contest are governed by laws of the Province of British Columbia, Canada and all disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms and the Contest must be resolved in the courts of the Province of British Columbia, Canada sitting at Vancouver.

9. Termination. LOI reserves the right to amend or terminate all or any portion of this Contest at any time for any or no reason without prior notice.

10. Image release. Any contestant that appears in the Facebook Show (an “Appearing Contestant”) grants to LOI a non-exclusive, irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free right and license to:

a. use, display, and reproduce any or all of the trademarks within the videos in advertising and promotion of the Contest or any other promotional materials;
b. film and reproduce the likeness of the Appearing Contestant as they appear, in videos, photographs or any other promotional materials;
c. distribute the finished videos in which such Appearing Contestant appeared, excerpts thereof or any images of Appearing Contestant in connection with Appearing Contestant's participation in the Contest worldwide via the web, and use portions of such materials, including quotes from contestants, on LOI’s and its affiliates’ (including, for greater certainty, Hootsuite) websites and social media channels and in advertising and promotional campaigns and other marketing materials, both printed and online.

11. Finalist Non-Disclosure. All Finalists acknowledge and agree that:
a. all information relating to a Finalist’s progress in the competition, contestant eliminations and/or the outcome of any episode of the program must be kept ABSOLUTELY CONFIDENTIAL until the result has been publicly announced by LOI;
b. Finalists must not write, blog, upload photographs or videos or otherwise post any information whatsoever on any social networking or internet site (including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or YouTube) about such Finalist’s progress in the competition, other Finalists, their progress in the competition and/or the outcome of the competition;
c. Finalists must not speak to any journalists or other members of the media until the winner has been publicly announced. Finalists must show courtesy and respect to the other contestants, judges and production team at all times. Finalists shall not make any disparaging, negative, offensive or derogatory comments about the Contest or those involved in the contest;
d. the restrictions in this section are necessary and required in order to protect the integrity of the competition and the LOI brand and preserve the suspense of the audience;
e. notwithstanding anything to the contrary contained herein, Finalist shall be allowed to disclose the information described in this section if Finalist is required to do so by court order and/or operation of law; and
f. Finalists may be disqualified from the contest at the sole discretion of LOI for breaching any of the obligations herein.
